Tattoo Guns

Tattoo guns are to a tattoo artist what a paintbrush is to a painter. They are an essential tool of the trade and can be a very personalized piece of equipment for the tattoo artist. In fact, many artists will often take the time to build their own guns, to their own specifications. Of course, they can be easily purchased as a finished unit as well.

Tattoo guns are actually made from several different components. The most basic parts include the frame, coils, springs, power supply, needle tube, and of course, the needle itself. Most guns on the market are made from these basic parts, but the configuration can vary from one manufacturer to the next. Many of these finished units can be further "tuned" according to the needs of the artist.

Most reputable tattoo artists will keep several tattoo guns on hand, not to mention an assortment of replacement parts. Like any other machine, individual components can become worn after extended use and must be occasionally replaced. A competent artist will be able to fix or replace any of these parts with very little trouble.
